Rare Terra is pleased to introduce you to the cast, director and playwright for A Beautiful Spell:

Maggie Corbett (FRANNY)

is making her Rare Terra debut with A BEAUTIFUL SPELL. Previous Chicago stage credits include COME BACK LITTLE SHEBA, A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE, OTHELLO, THE ELEPHANT MAN, and NOISES OFF, among others.  After receiving a B.A. in acting from Columbia College Chicago, she relocated to New York, where she has been involved with the New York International Fringe Festival, and Shakespeare in the Parking Lot.  She is also an ensemble member of the English Theatre of Rome.


Eric Burgher (JIM)

is an ensemble member of Profiles Theatre, where he was most recently seen as Robert in Profiles’ Midwest Premiere of Jailbait by Deirdre O’Connor, Babe in Profiles’ World Premiere of Kid Sister by Will Kern and Jared in Profiles’ Midwest Premiere of Body Awareness by Annie Baker. Other Profiles credits include the World Premiere of Graceland, U.S. Premiere of The Wonderful World of Dissocia, the first full Chicago production of Men of Tortuga, This is How it Goes, “Land of the Dead” as part of Profiles’ Midwest Premiere of LaBute shorts, Things We Said Today, as well as the Midwest Premiere of Fat Pig. Eric received an After Dark Award for Outstanding Ensemble in “Bench Seat as part of Profiles’ Midwest Premiere of autobahn. He was also seen at Profiles in The Glory of Living, The Radiant Abyss, and Noise. Ericteaches on the adjunct faculty at Columbia College Chicago

Ian Streicher (Director)

has directed extensively in NYC and in Chicago. Most recently, Ian’s staging of the THE SENSATIONAL JOSEPHINE BAKER played Off Broadway. In NYC, he also directed over a dozen new plays Off Off Broadway, often leading the plays’ developmental process. In Chicago, Ian directed Neil LaBute’s I LOVE THIS GAME at Profiles Theatre in 2007 as part of their “Season of Labute.”  In the early 90s, Ian directed several Profiles shows (TRUE WEST, CHARLIE THE CHICKEN), Griffin Theater’s WOMEN AND WALLACE and Rare Terra’s productions of Fugard’s MASTER HAROLD and Brecht’s HOW MUCH IS YOUR IRON?

Greg Kalleres (Playwright)

received his BFA from Tisch’s Dramatic Writing Program at NYU. His plays have been produced all over the country, including New York, Los Angeles, Berkeley and Chicago. He received the Certificate of Excellence from the Kennedy Center, is a two-time finalist for the Lila Acheson American Playwrights Program at Juilliard and a two-time finalist for Aurora Theatre Company’s Global Age Project. He won Best Play two consecutive years at the Turnip 15-Minute Play Festival and this year’s Jury Prize and Audience Favorite Award at Fusion Theatre Company’s one act play festival, “The Seven.”  Greg has also written numerous commercials for ESPN, Nike, Brand Jordan and others. He was the lead writer on the award winning “This is SportsCenter” campaign and created ESPN’s Monday Night Football campaign: “Is it Monday Yet?” His screenplay, LAST DAY MAN, was optioned by Smuggler Films and is being planned for production later this year.
